How did I do that...
I'm going to share my Before/After of a few images below...if you'd like camera settings, metadata, etc. please feel free to ask!
Infant Safety
SRP Little Miracles ALWAYS puts the safety of my little miracles first and foremost. It is important when working with these infants and newborns to remember they are fragile little beings that can easily be hurt or injured.
Always keep a parent or assistant on hand to be right there with the infant as you are behind the lens. Split seconds so many things can go wrong and happen in do not put the child at risk ever for even the smallest amount of time.
Below I share some before/after of how the parent is literally RIGHT there at hand.

What's an SRP Class like?
Teaching and sharing my passion....
Some of you may already know that I am a teacher as well as a photographer but if you didn't know yep I sure am. :) Teaching adults is my other passion and I'd say photography and teaching hold equal parts of my soul...together they complete the question: "Who do I want to be when I grow up?"While my Bachelors is in Communication with focus in photo and web journalism my first Masters is in Adult Education and Training and my second I'm working on is in Military History with a focus in U.S. History. So yep there you have it I'm not only a camera/computer nerd I'm also a history buff who loves teaching too.
I combined my loves for the first time on April 27th and taught my first "official" Basic Photography Class at Chalk Ridge Falls in Belton, TX. I had a blast and so did my students. Below are some photos of me helping the students line of shots and then a photo of the same shot I took with my camera. I've also included a short video of the experience. Enjoy!
Want to join a class? Join Here
Classes are $25 per person and last 2 hours.
Questions are always welcome!
Thank you to my amazing husband for taking the photos of me teaching as well as the video...I don't know that I would be as successful as I am without his support and encouragement.

Combining Work and Family...is there a balance?
It was truly a beautiful Saturday afternoon on April 20th. I decided to take my children and a few of their friends along with me for the day since it was a Noon to 6pm shoot...this way I got to sneak in quality time in between my sessions and their friends could keep my kiddos occupied while I was actually working.
Even the hubby came along to help me if needed and as an extra pair of hands for the six children we brought along with us. I know I sound nuts knowing I'd be working and bringing along not only my own three children but three of their friends as well...but it went very well.
Below are a few shots from the sessions and you'll get to see my family who are a BIG part of who I am too....ENJOY!

Networking the never ending battle...
As most of you know my family and I are a military family so we relocate more often than not. Networking and building strong relationships in business secures a foundation no matter what business you are in or where your business is located. When you continuously move it adds to the challenge but it is well worth it!
I have recently relocated here to beautiful Central Texas and am slowly building community connections and relationships which makes me feel wonderful. I choose to look at our frequent moves as a positive because most never build relationships outside of their own communities and I have and am building relationships country and world wide.
Some things I do to network include:

Some things I do to network include:
- Talking with people everywhere I go! This is a biggie because you see and meet people every day if you open up to them you never know.
- Find the place to advertise your business. This has nothing to do with price but where will it be seen by those consumers you are targeting.
- Know your target consumer/client! This is so important define thoroughly who you want to be your client then find where they frequent.
- Research your community, step outside of your comfort zone.

Never stop learning...
I am continuously attending workshops, reading up on the latest technology, and watching online videos, etc. I feel that if I stop trying to learn and better myself that is the moment I become general run of the mill and not great or amazing. This is not just for photography, but relates to all things in my life.
Promise to post before/after photos of my studio as it comes alive and I begin to use it!!
CreativeLIVE
One of my absolute favorite free photography educational go-to places is CreativeLIVE.com. They are always having different experts in the field giving workshops that you can watch live for free or purchase to watch any time. It's amazing to me how much I grow and learn each time I watch someone new.Mistakes lead to Greatness
I also love to just go out and shoot and learn from my mistakes! Every time I challenge myself and fail I learn something and it sticks. I know that I learn more from mistakes than I ever do from my successes.Challenge Yourself
My latest challenge for myself is setting up my in-home studio. Up to this point in my career I have worked on location only both indoor and outdoor. I'm very excited to build a working studio so I have more control over the environment both for taking photos but also for my clients to walk in and feel at home. I want my studio to create a mood and be a true extension of who I am.Promise to post before/after photos of my studio as it comes alive and I begin to use it!!

On the road again...
SRP is moving to Texas! My dear husband is being stationed at Fort Hood, TX so our new home and SRP's new studio will be in Kempner, TX. This week I have been packing up all of my props, studio equipment, etc.
I look forward to serving new communities and families, but will definitely miss all of my amazing clients here at Fort Leonard Wood, MO too. Thank you to all who were so loyal to me the past three years here.

Branding and Form Templates
On this rainy winter Sunday I decided to sit down and review my client forms, my branding, etc. I try to do this at least once each year and what better time than in January to do so. Below you can see the new and older brand/watermarks but both are still very much in use. I just love the old brand (what do you see: think picture within a picture) so I'll never fully get rid of it!
I have added my newer watermark to all of my client forms as well as updated the forms to show my new policies, turn around time, and more. I still use the old branding though on all of my web listings, sites, etc.
Fan Question: How often do you refresh YOUR business forms, branding, etc.?

A Year in Review...
The year 2012 was an amazing year for Silent Ranks Photography (SRP). I was blessed in having such amazing clients, fans, friends, and family support and patronage. I began the journey in photography from hobby to business only 2 short years ago and I continue to develop and grow both in technique/talent as well as from meeting and spending cherished moments and milestones in each client I work with. I truly feel proud to be chosen for each and every session no matter what the session is for to me it is and will always be special.
Here is a slideshow of a few favorite photos taken in 2012:
